Start using FIZ today.
Don’t wait for the quarter or another software subscription to end: FIZ imports invoices, customers and products from Portal das Finanças, SAF‑T, Excel or CSV and includes the invoices in your declarations.

How it works
Create your account
Enter your cédula (professional card) and connect your account to the Portal das Finanças. FIZ checks your OCC registration within 24 hours and emails you. Meanwhile, you can already use FIZ.
Add your clients
Invite the client to open an account, ask for access to their existing FIZ account, or create their profile in your account. In a client’s account, the client authorises access.
Confirm and submit
FIZ imports the invoices from e‑Fatura, including those from other software, suggests the classification and prepares the IVA declarations and, for the self-employed, Seg. Social. Look over the data and confirm with one click: FIZ submits them.
Review the declaration and submit it with one click
From “All profiles”, you open the client’s periodic declaration already prepared by FIZ: output IVA, deductible IVA and the tax due or the credit to carry forward. If needed, correct the figures before you submit.
FIZ submits it to AT: for companies, with your certified accountant credentials; for the self-employed under the simplified regime, with the client’s AT credentials.

Add self-employed clients and companies
In “All profiles”, self-employed clients and companies sit side by side. There are three ways to add a client:
- Invite the client to create an account Recommended for companies
- FIZ emails a link. The client becomes the account holder, pays for the plan and authorises your access.
- Ask for access to an existing account
- If the client already uses FIZ, enter their NIF. The account holder gets the request with your name and cédula, and decides.
- Create the client profile in your account
- You pay for this profile’s plan. Whenever the client wishes, transfer the profile to them with its documents and history.
Self-employed clients you already serve
Under the simplified regime, FIZ prepares the client’s IVA and Seg. Social declarations from their invoices. In FIZ, you and the client see the same invoices, expenses and declarations.
With “Manage” access, you issue invoices, classify expenses and confirm declarations with one click, and FIZ submits them to AT and Seg. Social.
IVA declaration for the self-employedCompanies you already serve
FIZ Max prepares the periodic IVA declaration, monthly or quarterly, and, when needed, the recapitulative one.
Look over the data and confirm with one click: FIZ submits the declarations to AT. The proof of submission and the IVA payment document appear in FIZ.

Issue, cancel and rectify your clients’ invoices
FIZ issues invoices, invoice-receipts and receipts on the client’s behalf, with ATCUD, and reports every invoice to AT in real time. For companies, if you prefer, invoices can reach AT in the monthly SAF‑T (PT) file, which you upload to e‑Fatura.
In FIZ, you can cancel a whole invoice, without a credit note, within the quarter in which it was issued. If it was already sent, let the recipient know. After that quarter, or to reduce only part of the amount, issue a credit note.

From e‑Fatura and the bank to the accounting software
FIZ imports purchase and sales invoices from e‑Fatura. Bank transactions come from the bank accounts the account holder connects to FIZ, or from statements in CSV or Excel. FIZ suggests the classification and the match with invoices.
If the account holder turns it on, FIZ emails you the invoicing SAF‑T (PT) file every month. With “Manage” access, you export documents and bank transactions to Excel, with the attachments in a ZIP.

Frequently asked questions about FIZ for accountants
How does data from FIZ get into my accounting software?
Through the invoicing SAF‑T (PT), which FIZ emails you every month if the account holder turns this on, and through Excel: with “Manage” access, you export documents and bank transactions, with the attachments in a ZIP.
The accounting stays in the software you already use, such as TOConline, Primavera, Cegid or Sage.
The monthly SAF‑T (PT) email comes with all paid plans. Bank transactions, reconciliation and Excel export are in FIZ Max and, for the self-employed, in Prime and Prime Pro.
Which of my clients’ declarations does FIZ prepare and submit?
For self-employed clients under the simplified regime, depending on their plan: the quarterly Seg. Social declaration (Auto, Prime, Auto Pro and Prime Pro), the quarterly periodic IVA declaration (Auto Pro and Prime Pro) and the recapitulative declaration (Prime Pro).
For companies, in FIZ Max: the periodic IVA declaration, monthly or quarterly, and, when needed, the recapitulative declaration. You still submit Modelo 22, the IES and the DMR yourself, and the Modelo 22 and IES deadlines appear in “All profiles”.
With “Manage” access, you look over the declaration FIZ has prepared and confirm it with one click, and FIZ submits it to AT or Seg. Social.
Seg. Social quarterly declarationHow do I work in FIZ with a self-employed client who has full accounting?
The client invoices in FIZ, and FIZ imports their purchase invoices from e‑Fatura and the transactions of the bank accounts they connect. With “Manage” access, you classify and reconcile this data and export it to Excel for your accounting software, where you post the entries.
The IVA and Seg. Social declarations, the IRS Modelo 3 with anexo C and the IES stay with you. For these clients, bank transactions, reconciliation and Excel export are in Prime and Prime Pro.
Whose credentials does FIZ use to submit my clients’ declarations?
For self-employed clients under the simplified regime, with the client’s own AT and Seg. Social credentials, which they connect to FIZ themselves.
For companies, FIZ submits the periodic IVA declaration and the recapitulative declaration with your credentials as the certified accountant appointed at AT with full filing powers. These are two separate authorisations: the appointment, in the Portal das Finanças, and access in FIZ, which the account holder gives you.
How do I add my clients to FIZ?
In “All profiles”, “Add client” offers three ways: invite the client by email to open an account, ask for access by NIF to an account they already have in FIZ, or create the client’s profile in your own account.
With an invitation or a request by NIF, the account is the client’s. They get the request with your name and cédula, choose “View” or “Manage” and authorise access. A request by NIF only reaches an account with that NIF and a verified AT connection.
You pay for a profile created in your account. Whenever the client wishes, you transfer the profile to them with its documents and history, and keep access at the level you propose; the client can then change or withdraw it.
Can I move a client to FIZ in the middle of a quarter?
Yes, on any day. Once the account holder authorises the AT connection, FIZ imports from e‑Fatura the issued and received invoices for the current and previous reporting periods, including those from other software reported to AT, and they all go into the declarations FIZ prepares. The client does not have to wait for the other software subscription to end: they can keep invoicing there.
What can I do in a client’s account with “View” and with “Manage”?
With “View”, you see the client’s invoices, expenses, bank transactions and declarations, without changing any data.
With “Manage”, you classify and reconcile, issue and cancel invoices, issue credit notes and export the data. You also confirm the declarations, and FIZ submits them straight away.
The account holder chooses the level and can change or withdraw it at any time. The plan and payments, the team and permissions, the bank connection and deleting or transferring the account always stay with them. On a paid plan, the holder sees what you did in “Recent activity”.
Can I issue and cancel invoices on a client’s behalf?
Yes, with “Manage” access. FIZ, certified by AT (No. 3041), issues invoices, invoice-receipts and receipts on the client’s behalf, with ATCUD, and reports every invoice and every cancellation to AT in real time.
For companies, communication with AT can be automatic, in real time, or manual, through SAF‑T (PT): FIZ creates the series with ATCUD and, if the account holder turns it on, emails you the SAF‑T (PT) every month for you to upload to e‑Fatura.
In FIZ, you can cancel a whole invoice, without a credit note, within the quarter in which it was issued. If it was already sent, let the recipient know. After that quarter, or to reduce only part of the amount, issue a credit note.
Invoices issued on the Portal das Finanças or in other software are cancelled or corrected where they were issued.
Correct an invoiceHow much does FIZ cost me, and who pays for my clients’ plans?
Your plan is free once your cédula is confirmed: FIZ Prime if you practise as a sole trader (Prime Pro under the normal IVA regime) and FIZ Max for an accounting firm. It renews every year while your OCC registration is active.
A client who holds an account pays for the plan they choose, and that plan sets what can be done in the account: the IVA declaration, for example, is in Auto Pro, Prime Pro and FIZ Max.
Your account holds up to 60 profiles, your own included. The client profiles you create are paid by you until you transfer them. Accounts that clients open and give you access to are outside this limit. Fees and the service contract are between you and the client.
How does FIZ confirm that I am a certified accountant?
FIZ checks your cédula number in the public register of the Ordem dos Contabilistas Certificados (OCC) and lets you know by email within 24 hours. For the confirmation, also connect your account to the Portal das Finanças.
In the meantime, you can already use FIZ like any other user.
Once your cédula is confirmed, you get the free plan and can invite clients and request access to their accounts. If you already have a FIZ account, you confirm your cédula in Settings, under “Are you a contabilista certificado?”.
Who is liable for the fine on a client’s missing, late or incorrect declaration?
The fine is imposed on the client as the taxpayer (sujeito passivo), even when the error is the accountant’s. Your liability is secondary and covers fines on declarations that are missing or submitted late during the period in which you act.
You are released from this liability if you tell AT the reason for the delay within 30 days after the deadline, and the failure is in no way attributable to you (RGIT, Article 8(3)). For the tax debts of a client company, you are secondarily liable only if you intentionally breach your duties (LGT, Article 24(3)).
In “All profiles”, FIZ shows each client’s deadlines and flags overdue IVA and Seg. Social declarations.
Does FIZ flag my clients’ overdue declarations?
Yes. In “All profiles”, FIZ flags overdue IVA and Seg. Social declarations and shows each client’s upcoming deadlines, so you file everything on time.
Who is responsible for my clients’ data?
In an account the client opened, the data belongs to the client, and FIZ processes it only to provide the service. In the profiles you create in your own account, you are responsible for the data.
